some thoughts after reading the first volume:• soul eater meets sweet home• monster hunter premise executed with a lighthearted comedic tone to its narrative。 i like that it doesn't take itself too seriously。• the art and paneling is simple and clean• there's some mild juvenile thirsty jokes。 he's sixteen, so you can expect peak hormonal teenager that gets a little too excited when he does get some action。a pretty enjoyable read but i've yet to be moved, story or characterwise。 i have a light fe some thoughts after reading the first volume:• soul eater meets sweet home• monster hunter premise executed with a lighthearted comedic tone to its narrative。 i like that it doesn't take itself too seriously。• the art and paneling is simple and clean• there's some mild juvenile thirsty jokes。 he's sixteen, so you can expect peak hormonal teenager that gets a little too excited when he does get some action。a pretty enjoyable read but i've yet to be moved, story or characterwise。 i have a light feeling that maybe i'd come to like makima (but, it's too early to tell。) she has this cold manipulative vibe going on that i kinda dig, so there's that。 。。。more

I tracked it by mistake, I have my complete manga list on My anime list。 But if it gets an anime it will be great。

No pensé que me fuera a gustar mucho pero me terminó sorprendiendo。 A seguir con los demás tomos。

I went into this manga mostly blind。 I saw the cover and thought it'd be someone I'd like。This first volume drags you into the story instantly and leaves you hungry for more。The art is amazing, every scene and every detail is stunning (especially the goreier scenes)。 I went into this manga mostly blind。 I saw the cover and thought it'd be someone I'd like。This first volume drags you into the story instantly and leaves you hungry for more。The art is amazing, every scene and every detail is stunning (especially the goreier scenes)。 。。。more

I'm letting this review stand in as a review of the whole first series (chapters 1-97) because I burned through the whole thing on the Shonen Jump app in the space of a week。 Honestly, that's the best way to experience this thing until/unless a deluxe hardcover box set gets printed in English。 As with many Shonen Jump manga, the paperback volumes (only 4 of 11 are published in North America as of this writing) often stop and start in the middle of arcs。 I imagine that severely messes with the pa I'm letting this review stand in as a review of the whole first series (chapters 1-97) because I burned through the whole thing on the Shonen Jump app in the space of a week。 Honestly, that's the best way to experience this thing until/unless a deluxe hardcover box set gets printed in English。 As with many Shonen Jump manga, the paperback volumes (only 4 of 11 are published in North America as of this writing) often stop and start in the middle of arcs。 I imagine that severely messes with the pacing of something as compulsively readable and flat-out bonkers as this。 Chainsaw Man starts off as a crudely entertaining take on the typical Shonen "teen boy strives to be the best at something" story。 Fujimoto revels in how dumb and shallow his protagonist is, and in how hilariously amoral the whole endeavor is。 It's tons of fun, but it's the type of fun you might be slightly embarrassed about having。Then somewhere around Chapter 30 (it's during the Katana Man arc for sure) the whole thing levels up。 Fujimoto's artwork gets more daring and baroque, and the pacing kicks into high gear, making the series almost impossible to put down。 Even when things get truly trippy and metaphysical, it's never particularly intellectual, but it *is* smart in the way it adheres to some genre rules and gleefully breaks others (one fun thing is how obvious cannon fodder is constantly being introduced, but they never die in the order in which you'd expect)。 But for all of Fujimoto's clever storytelling choices, "Chainsaw Man" works best as a visceral visual experience。 Just when you think Fujimoto has exhausted his bag of visual tricks, he comes up with a new image that's astonishingly haunting, or hilarious, or both simultaneously。 。。。more

I enjoyed it and I definitely like the premise, but it wasn’t anything spectacular。 I’ll definitely pick up book two, and it wasn’t that bad for a first manga!

Wow, I love this series。 It can be so heartfelt yet so funny at the same time。 Worth the readI'm glad that they are making it into an anime。 I can't wait to see it。 Wow, I love this series。 It can be so heartfelt yet so funny at the same time。 Worth the readI'm glad that they are making it into an anime。 I can't wait to see it。 。。。more

I was hesitant to start reading Chainsaw Man for the sole reason that I'm kind weirded out by the fact that the protagonist turns into a chainsaw man。 My brain can't seem to fully comprehend how a person becomes a chainsaw。 But it's a fantasy manga。 Anything is possible。 Anyway, I jumped right into reading upon recommendation from my brother that it was actually pretty good。。。 and it is。 Well, it's off to a pretty good start, in my opinion。 It was fast paced and has quickly established how chain I was hesitant to start reading Chainsaw Man for the sole reason that I'm kind weirded out by the fact that the protagonist turns into a chainsaw man。 My brain can't seem to fully comprehend how a person becomes a chainsaw。 But it's a fantasy manga。 Anything is possible。 Anyway, I jumped right into reading upon recommendation from my brother that it was actually pretty good。。。 and it is。 Well, it's off to a pretty good start, in my opinion。 It was fast paced and has quickly established how chainsaw man came to be。 It has action, comedy and I think a bit of drama, and of course, all the elements of a shounen story that we all know (and love even if we do not overtly admit it)。 So far, so good。 The characters are quite interesting, and I'm curious as to what will happen next。 And I think that's a good sign。 。。。more

If you like crazy, weird, gory manga with over the top humor and action, then Chainsaw Man is just for you。 The first volume is definitely flawed with its pacing and characterization, but it manages to be very enjoyable and fun。

Nathan Fox

Very fun/funny! Love all the characters。 Very jujutsu kaisen vibes。 Can’t wait for the anime

Eva

I highly recommend reading it, the panels are so captivating and weird but in a good way, funny and really good。

I heard this one is unbashedly hilarious, but why the heck did I burst into tears at the very beginning! It's still good with very absurd narrative, but this series is not for everyone。 It just happens that it is for me, a nerd who grew to reading Jump manga and am a bit tired of the cliche。 I heard this one is unbashedly hilarious, but why the heck did I burst into tears at the very beginning! This series shows promise but it is hard to get over how nasty the protagonist is。 I'd say be prepared for typical shounen sexism except when it's the protagonist who can't shut about sex it seems even more egregious。 Gets better around volume 4 (at least temporarily)。 This series shows promise but it is hard to get over how nasty the protagonist is。 I'd say be prepared for typical shounen sexism except when it's the protagonist who can't shut about sex it seems even more egregious。 Gets better around volume 4 (at least temporarily)。 。。。more

3。5 stars。

An interesting twist on the typical shounen protagonist。 Chainsaw Man is gloriously bloody, comedic, and unapologetic。 It is a fresh breath of air to the shounen scene, merging dark comedy and hack n slash。
